Walking in a Pink Wonderland
This cake was created for a little girl that was having a VERY special day, not only was she turning 2 (which is a pretty big thing) but her family was also celebrating her adoption.
The two tier cake with a tutu layered cupcake was made with a pink winter wonderland theme to match the party decorations.
The Little Monkey Turns One
When my nephew turned one my sister wanted me to make a cake for him that was very simple with a monkey theme. I used his birthday invitation for the inspiration, I always love coordinating things.
Cake Flavor: Moist Banana (of course!) with Cream Cheese Frosting

This is actually one of my favorite cakes that I've ever made. I love how simply sophisticated it is. I love the choice of brown and green against the white fonant. But my favorite part about this cake actually happened by accident. When the bride brought me the ribbon to go around the bottom of the tiers they didn't have quite enough and they didn't think that they could get any more. So, to improvise I used a ribbon color that was similar to the brown, unfortunately all I could find was a thin 5/8" width. I covered the back 4-5" gap on the back with layers of the thin ribbon, I then tied bows that cascaded down the back of the cake. I loved the result! But me being me, I forgot to get a picture of the bows. So you'll just have to picture it in your head.

This fun western style wedding cake was created (in August) for a girl who grew up on a ranch. I loved her choice of the two different colors of brown, I admit that I've never tried a tone on tone cake before but I loved it. The hand crafted belt that wraps around the bottom tier was extremely fun to make. It reminded me of sitting at scout camp with my mom and brother playing with the leather tooling sets. I am so lucky my mom decided to take the girls along too instead of dropping us off at a baby sitter. Oh, the memories!

Graceful curving vines wrap around this beautifully simple three tier wedding cake. The textured fondant leaves add just a touch of color to the smooth surface of the fondant and echos the vine imprinted fondant cake base. The cascading flower bouquet shows off orchids and roses in green, pink, lavender, and purple.
Cake Flavor: Purple Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting, Covered in Fondant
Sparkler Cake
What says patriotic more than fireworks? This pyrotechnic holiday was always my Grandpa's favorite because it also doubled as his birthday. When he was young he was convinced that the fireworks bursting in the nighttime sky were in his honor. Through the years a tradition was born, every year on his birthday cake instead of candles we placed sparklers and sang "Happy Birthday" to Grandpa as the sparklers spit their light and ashes over the soft frosting. This year Grandpa's Snickerdoodle cake was dressed up with red and white stars and a shower of edible sparkles shooting up from the center of the cake. Happy Birthday Grandpa we miss you.

A Timeless Classic-
A soft Ivory backdrop of smooth buttercream icing sets off hand crafted peach roses that rest at the peak of each floral garland, highlighting the garlands are delicate swags of coral colored stringwork. Elegant columns hold multiple tiers of luscious White Velvet Cake high above the table top, while below pale peach liquid flows gently down the cascading tiers of a fountain placed amid a wreath of peach, ivory and white roses. Filigree staircases lead down from the middle tier down to a smaller but just as showy display of roses and ruffles. From there a second set of lace like stairways end in a finale of mirrored garlands, ruffles, and roses.
Cake Flavor: White Velvet Cake
Frosting Flavor: Buttercream

Powered by Metallica
Brandon's Metallica Groom's Cake
I made this cake for Brandon who loves Metallica, and since a Grooms cake should reflect the Groom's personality I decided to give him an iPod with all his favorite Metallica songs loaded on. And of course the iPod needed an iPod dock to make the set up complete.
Cake Flavor: Chocolate Better than ?... which included a chocolate infused chocolate cake with chocolate chips and toasted pecans
Frosting: Creamy Carmel Frosting and Marshmallow Fondant
Little Pink Purses
These little Pink Purse Cupcakes were created for a bridal shower where the invitation that was sent was also a pink purse.
Cupcake Flavor: Marbled yellow and chocolate Cake with Pink Buttercream icing.
When I was finished with all the cakes I had a few that I had messed up on, so I let each of my girls decorate one like a purse. When I told my little Emma that she could have one of the purses she giggled and said "Oh mommy I'm so excited to make a purse." Giggle, Giggle. "An' it's purple, Oh!" She exclaimed excitedly, "it will match my shoes!" She's 3, I think I'm in trouble for when she's a teenager!

Citrus Wedding Cake:
This cake really shows Summer time is here with bright vibrant citrus colors that are set off by a back drop of smooth white fondant, brown apple blossoms cascade through falling slices of citrus fruit. Each tier is separated by fresh limes, lemons and oranges. Sliced oranges, lemons, limes, and grapefruit accent the base and cake topper pulling the citrus theme from top to bottom.
I made this cake for my sister whose favorite color has always been bright sunshiny yellow. I helped her plan and decorate her entire wedding reception. This was one of the funnest most colorful weddings that I've ever been to. Thanks Annie for letting me be a part of the planning process!

Three tier wedding cake was made with three unique flavors to pull out the citrus flavor of the fruit that sits atop each tier.
Bottom Layer: Orange Marmalade cake with White Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting,
Middle Layer: Raspberry Lemonade cake with White Chocolate Cream Cheese and Raspberry-Lemonade Frosting
Top Layer: Creamy Key Lime Cake with Lime pudding filling and Coconut Buttercream Frosting.
All decorations are edible.

For my cousin and her fiance music has been a huge part of their lives. When they came and asked me to do a Tuscan themed cake for their wedding I played around with a lot of possibilities but this design eventually won. The rusty orange and white marbled fondant set the stage for the couple's favorite song to be piped around all three tiers.
Cake Flavor: Canoli Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

Bouquets of pink and red roses cascade gently down this black and white, paisley shaped wedding cake. I really learned a lot while making this cake, it was my first real experience in piping. I learned that piping by hand takes longer than you think!
Cake flavor: Red Velvet with Cream Cheese Frosting
Summer
This cake was made for a wedding that was held in a garden belonging to the bride's grandmother. It was so adorable! She had quirky things to discover in every nook and cranny of her back yard (notice the weathered kitchen chair hanging from the tree in the background). The bride's choice of sunflowers was perfect for her outdoor summer wedding.

This was the very first wedding cake that I ever made. My husband had a co-worker that we were both friends with that was getting married and was kind enough to let me experiment on. At this point in my baking carrer I had only made a handful of cakes. She was very brave.
Cake flavor: Butter Cake with Vanilla buttercream frosting.
